Obscure Horror Movie Trailer--2/10: ''Exorcist III'

'The Exorcist' is not only the gold standard for horror films, it's also one of my favorite movies of all time.

Over the years, many attempts have been made to recapture the magic of William Friedken's 1973 film. While none of these sequels and prequels have ever come close to exploiting what made the first flick so great, 1990's "'Exorcist III' is the only honorable one.

Directed by William Peter Blatty (creator of 'The Exorcist') based on his book, 'Legion'--'The Exorcist III' takes place fifteen years after the events of the first film. It stars George C. Scott as Lieutenant Kinderman (the cop from the first film originally played by Lee J. Cobb), along with Jason Miller reprising his role as Damien Karras (well...sorta) and Brad Dourif wonderfully portraying the spirit of  The Gemini Killer.

The movie's performances from the supporting cast are all mediocre at best, and the final act is a bit muddled. But the writing, unique story, atmosphere and performances of Brad Dourif/Jason Miller as the new demon definitely make this worth renting.
